History

The Midday Theatre is an English Theatre group in Surat which started in 2021 with the vision to establish a theatre culture that encompasses educational values in an artistic form. We have produced and directed William Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice in September 2021, Romeo and Juliet in February-March 2022, Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest in June, 2022, Tennesse Williams' The Glass Menagerie in September, 2022 and William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream in January, 2023 and many more to come in future. 

Who we are

We produce English Drama in the upcoming hub of Culture and Art, Surat (Gujarat). You do not require any prior experience to work with us. We give special training to all age groups in theatre techniques, dramatics, vocals, theatre management. To join us you can fill the sign-up form and choose your preferences and we shall contact you for the same.

Krishna Lavangwala

Founder | Director | Producer | Educator

Krishna Lavangwala is the founder and director of the Midday Theatre, an English Theatre group in Surat. 


Ms. Lavangwala finished her undergraduate in English Literature from St. Xavier’s College, Ahmedabad, further ahead, she went to the University of Nottingham to finish her Masters in English Literature. She has also done a second Masters in Shakespeare Studies from King’s College London. 


In 2020, Ms Lavangwala was an English Educator at Mussoorie International School, an all girls residential school. She taught for one academic year and started with her theatre group in 2021.
